The taper shank arbor connects the machine spindle with the tool clamping head, e.g. drill chuck.
It has a Morse taper with ejector tang DIN 238, which can be picked up by the machine (e.g. drill press) and a taper or threaded mount which can be picked up by the drill chuck.
